Watermelon Lace Hat
The colors of the yarns used in this pattern remind me of summers and yummy watermelon. This pattern uses a simple lace pattern similar to the one used in the Ivy Trellis Cowl except the lace pattern is worked on both sides of the fabric.
YARN: One skein each of two different colors of the same weight yarn. Sample shown in Blackberry Ridge Mer-made Plus Fingering (80% Merino, 20% Nylon; 425 yards per 4-ounce skein); Color A: ‘Watermelon’ colorway; and an unidentified 100% wool fingering weight yarn in an orange colorway.
NEEDLES: US 10/6.0 mm 16-inch circular needles (2)
NOTIONS: stitch marker, yarn needle
GAUGE: 4 sts = 1 inch
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
Width: 11 1/2” laid flat
Height: 8 3/4” from brim to top
NOTES:
IODK – reverse stockinette faces out on both sides
DK – stockinette faces out on both sides
Use the second circular needle when the number of stitches on the crown gets too few to use with one circular needle.
