Wattle cardigan
Use the coupon code FIRST for an introductory discount of A$3, valid until the 21st of April.
This long, open front brioche cardigan is designed to be an easy to wear, warm and comfortable but stylish addition to your wardrobe. The stitch pattern was carefully chosen to minimise the usual stretchiness of brioche so that, with the set-in sleeves and seams at the shoulders and sides to give structure, the garment should keep its shape, wear after wear.
The cardigan is knit in pieces from the bottom up.
For more details about the cardigan you can see a video on my website.
Size:
To fit bust sizes 75, (85, 95, 105), 115, 125, 135, {145, 155, 165}cm or 30, (34, 38, 42), 46, 50, 54, {58, 62, 66}”. Refer to the schematic and size table to choose your size. Bust size is given as a guide but since the cardigan is not fitted around the bust you are better off choosing your size based firstly on the cross back measurement (A) and secondly on the hip circumference (B) and/or bust circumference. Length (H) is easily customisable.
Materials:
• DK weight yarn in two colours 900, (1000, 1100, 1200), 1300, 1450, 1550, {1700, 1800, 1900}m or 985, (1095, 1205, 1310), 1420, 1585, 1695, {1860, 1970, 2080}yds of each colour. Woollen-spun or ‘rustic’ yarns are particularly recommended, rather than smooth, superwash yarns, in order to give the garment the necessary structure.
• 3.75mm/US5 circular needle.
• Stitch marker(s).
• Tapestry needle for seaming and weaving in ends.
Gauge:
Gauge is 21 stitches and 20 rows in pattern in a 10cm x 10cm/ 4” x 4” square, after blocking. Detailed swatching instructions are given in the pattern.
The pattern is written out step by step for all the sizes. Charts are included for the main stitch patterns used. A video tutorial is available for the one unusual stitch.
