Wave Me Closer! is a modern, slightly asymmetrical shawl to accompany the cocktail dress as well as blue jeans. Make it in shiny silk for special occasions or make it your everyday companion in a merino/silk blend yarn.

The shawl is knitted in one piece from the outer edge. It gets its crescent shape by short rows and decreases incorporated in the wave pattern.

All instructions, including the short rows, are given both in chart and in text row-by-row.

Finished measurements
Width along upper edge: 117 cm / 46 inches
Depth at centre: 37 cm / 14.5 inches
Depth at outer edge: 29 cm / 11.5 inches
All measurements are after blocking.

Yarn
If you would like to substitute yarn, I recommend a heavier 4ply. The choice of yarn may affect the finished size of the shawl.
I used 300 m / 328 yd for the sample shawl.

Needles
4.5 mm (US 7)
6.5 mm (US 10.5) for cast on only

Gauge
14 sts and 22 rows per 10 cm (4 inches) in lower pattern after blocking.
Gauge is not essential, but a different gauge may effect yarn requirements and finished measurements. For the best result, make sure that your gauge is even.

Techniques used in the pattern
• Long tail cast on (or other preferred cast on)
• Decreases: k2tog, ssk, p2tog, ssp, centered double decrease on right side and wrong side
• Increase: yarn over
• Short rows
