Wavelet on the Bias (Crochet)
Originally a knitting pattern, inspired by Hitchiker and Wingspan, but with symmetry and just a little more softness to the edges.
Either a wide, shallow shawl or a scarf - triangular in shape. Shaped on the bias (zigzag). I was asked to convert this easy pattern to crochet. This version is less tested than the knitted one - so any comments or improvements appreciated!
Comes up nicely either loose and lacy or close and warm. Great for finishing yarns in stripes, or showing off hand spun yarns. I handspin and often start from the yarn I want to use, rather than the pattern I want to find yarn for.
In this case, just increase until you either have a shape half as long as you want it, or until you’ve used half your yarn; then decrease again.
Gauge not important. As a guide, one knitted example used:
• 450m of
• light fingering yarn
• on 4.5mm needles
• for a scarf about 2.5m long
• with 12 increase and 12 decrease sections
