Waves - Welted Moebius
Welting in knitting is a method of creating horizontal ribbing. This is done by knitting ridges of stockinet and reverse stockinet. These ridges can vary in width depending on the look that you are trying to create. The ridges here are quite wide with an optional eyelet detail. Welting is very reversible and done in two colours the reversibility gives us two very different looks to add to our wardrobe of accessories.
Cat Bordi’s moebius technique creates a unique shawl or scarf that is reversible and interesting to knit. Once the cast-on is mastered the knitting progresses as normal. What is different is that the cast-on is the center of your knitting and the coils of your circular needle will start to separate from each other as you add rows to your knitting. You are quite literally knitting in two different directions at once.
We all like to get double duty out of our knitting; the Welting combined with the Moebius cast-on allows us to get that extra bit out of our projects.
Pattern includes link to Cat Bordi’s Moebius cast-on.
Ruffled finish is shown on sample, two other finishes are included in the pattern, Fringe bind-off and K2tog bind-off.
