This is the second in my Beach House Shawl series. They were dreamed up while watching the waves at our favorite beach house in the spring.

My favorite time of day to watch the waves is sunrise. I love the way the sky turns pink and the gentle ripples of the water reflect the colors in the sky. I chose to make mine in pink, but I’m sure you’ll make yours in whatever color reminds you of the beach.

This pattern makes a generous shawl when made in Aran weight. Some of the testers used other weights and fibers with beautiful results. If you wish to adjust the size, the pattern repeat is noted for you in the pattern.

The construction is a little unconventional, but then so am I. It begins with the ripples and the solid double crochet section is done last. Due to the techniques used I consider this pattern to be for intermediate crocheters.

The pattern calls for foundation single crochet to begin as I feel it gives the best stretch and finish for the ripple rows. However, if you choose not to use FDC, you can use a simple chain stitch.
