This design reminds me of the crystal-clear blue water you see in the tropics, with the drop stitches representing the waves. The tranquility and peace of this vision are what led to the Waves of Tranquility Shawl.

This is a one piece rectangular shawl with the option of adding fringe to each end. If you choose to add fringe, note that you will need approximately 20 g of yarn in order to complete the fringe.

Made up of knit stitches and dropped knit stitches, the pattern repeat is easy to memorize. Knowledge of dropped stitches would be an asset.

200 grams or 916 yards of fingering weight yarn is required. Sample used Knit Picks Stroll Gradient in Ice Sculpture. I used one skein from the inside out and the other from the outside in to achieve the cohesive look. I kept back the 20 grams for the fringe from the centre colour. Use all one colour, several minis, no matter what you choose, it will be lovely.

3.5mm needles were used to achieve a gauge of , although being a shawl, gauge is not overly important.
