This is a design stitch I seen once in 2003 and not since. I have been hanging onto the stitch until I could find the right patterns to put it in. I have a collection of items from a Ladies Tee, Kids Sweater, Scarf, Stole, Shawl and 3 sizes of Afghan. I have made the pattern to be a small afghan 26x32, medium 36x48 and large 42x64. That is why you see a large range of yarn yardage requirements. It has a wave which is made with decreasing some stitches while increasing in some stitches on selected rows. Not hard to do, just have to keep count.
I used a size 9 but if you would like a tighter weave you can always use a 8, remembering the size of the afghan will be a little smaller. Good thing about afghans, inches don’t really matter. All sizes fit. Some may like a light and lofty afghan, you then could use a size 10.5 needle. The choice is yours. Have fun and be your own designer. You can use two colors by alternating the colors at each pattern row repeat.
I like the way Plymouth Encore knits up as well as the Berroco Comfort. I’m sure any worsted weight yarn will produce a similar finish like Red Heart, Bernat, Lion Brand, etc.
The number of skeins of yarn will depend on the size you choose as well as the name brand you pick. The Red Heart Super Save would use 1 for the small size where the Plymouth would require 2.
