I dedicate this pattern to the memory of our little Miniature Dachshund Lena, who was born October 23, 2004 and passed over the Rainbow Bridge on July 26, 2021. She was our joy, our blessing and my knitting muse. Although I originally named my shop to honor my grandmother Lena who taught me to knit when I was 4 years old, I’m rededicating it our sweet and precious little companion. She was … and will always be … much loved.

NOTE: THIS PATTERN FITS MOST MEDIUM SIZED DOG BREEDS! As written, the design fits a dog with a chest circumference at its widest point of 15 to 18 inches/38 to 46 cm, if your dog’s chest is larger by up to 3 inches/7.6 cm, I will advise you how to modify the pattern to fit YOUR dog! As for length, the pattern includes my advice for customizing the length (As written, the length is 15 inches/38 cm from the nape of the neck.)

NOTE: Yarn used is Worsted/Aran/10-ply weight, with a knitting gauge of 4 stitches = 1 inch on US #8/5.0 needles, or size required to obtain gauge.

As Winter ends and Spring begins, I’ve decided to add another Miniature Dachshund sweater pattern to my collection and I’ve come up with Lena’s Wavy Ribbon sweater.

The textural element consists of a central panel on the back of the garment and the rest of the knitting is done in stockinette stitch.

NO CABLE NEEDLES are required! This may look like a cable pattern, but really, the panel is made with a combination of knit and purl stitches.

The front and back sections are knitted separately and invisibly seamed together with the mattress stitch (or any stitch you prefer). It boasts a ribbed turtle neck and ribbed bottom edge.

IF YOU PREFER TO KNIT THE TURTLENECK COLLAR IN THE ROUND, I INCLUDE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS OPTION!

The ribbed sleeves are knit in the round with double pointed needles, but if you prefer, you can skip that and instead, single crochet an edging around the arm holes with a crochet hook size G or H.
