These slippers are knit with a cozy and bulky wool. They should keep your feet warm and well-padded against cold floors. They are made with extra special features like the three colour geometric patterning that spans the circumference of the foot. This stranded colour-work knitting makes the slippers both insulated and sturdy. The slipper has a seamless construction; starting with a provisional cast on and short-row toe shaping and ending with the kitchener stitch. Other tricky details include the twisted stitch at the foot opening to keep it from stretching out of shape and what we are calling the “slipper gripper”. It’s a loop at the back of the slipper that can be used for hanging the slippers when not in use, or just a bit of extra something to hold onto when you slip your slipper onto your foot.
We knit our slippers with Julie Asselin’s Douillet. This is a bulky blend of Rambouillet and Columbia sheep’s wool sourced and spun in North America and hand dyed beautifully by Julie Asselin in Quebec. This is not a superwash yarn so slippers will not stretch so much and will get a bit felted as you wear and walk on them. The slippers are sized for a medium women’s or men’s foot size but there are notes on how to adjust the length of the slipper. Enjoy!
