Thank you to everyone who helped bring this cardigan to life :)
A delicate interplay between winding cables and simple textures, this sweater has been my white whale design! The original version was started in 2019, and after a lot of tinkering I’m proud to present this updated cardigan design.
This cardigan is worked flat, starting at the shoulders and working downward toward the pockets and body hem (placing sleeve stitches on hold once you reach the underarm, to be worked later). The back features an intricate cable motif which is worked using charts while the front is worked in a simple texture, and the sleeves are in stockinette. You may choose to add pockets, which are worked using a new and unique method developed for this sweater, involving a Turkish Cast-On and a very small amount of seaming (a few inches).
The buttonband is worked last, starting at the bottom right corner and working over to the bottom left corner, and it is meant to sit snugly around the shoulders. You may use as many buttons as you’d like (or none at all!), I provide a calculation to determine the number of rows between the buttonholes!
