This pattern is available for free.

This scarf pattern was inspired by the Insulate Britain campaign, with added humour. The garter ridge is designed to simulate lagging and the colours are derived from the Union Jack, the flag of Great Britain. It is a wide cosy scarf, which if knitted in wool will insulate the wearer when working from home with no heating.

There are two gauges in this pattern. The gauge for the garter st is 27 x 48 /10cm.
Skills required:

  1. Knitting in the round and the ability to follow a colour chart in stranded colour work. The floats are woven every 4 or 5 stitches, but their placement should vary on subsequent rounds.
  2. Jog less join.
  3. Provisional cast on.
  4. Some experience of using a magic loop would be useful, alternatively, double pointed needles can be used.
  5. Apart from sewing in the ends, no sewing is required.
