About this pattern
This pattern was designed for everyone, all dimensions, genders and budgets. I have used a very simple textured stitch pattern which looks a bit different depending on the yarn you choose. Should you use a budget yarn or a budget busting one? The answer is, your choice, as long as you swatch and match the gauge. I knitted the sample garment for my daughter, shown here, in a practical, synthetic based, super bulky yarn. My daughter is very busy and needs an easy-care robust cardigan. I also swatched a double stranded, 100% natural materials, affordable, sustainable, aran yarn and got a similar gauge. Swatch shown below.

People make yarn choices based on a range of things – I get that. Try it yourself, maybe swatch your stash – combine yarns to get the gauge. See my YouTube channel, if you need to, for advice on this. Pick the version of the pattern for the gauge that works for you and your choice of fit. If you are new to knitting, this pattern features easy options, YouTube advice on size selection and fit, and links to knitting tutorial videos.

This super-quick knit is for an adventurous advanced beginner, someone who is new to seamless knitting or an intermediate level knitter. This design comes in 9 sizes from XS to 5XL. This top is seamlessly knitted from the bottom up starting at the hem. The advantage of this is it is a more intuitive way to work for traditional, old-school knitters like me. However, you can still try it on as you go when the shoulder ‘seams’ are joined and choose the arm length depending on your preference. It is a drop shoulder construction, so the amount of shoulder overhang affects the sleeve length and possibly width. The sleeves are picked up at the end after the shoulder seams are joined. There are multiple options to build skills in the pattern.

A key aspect of this design is the shoulder ‘seams’ which are there for structural stability. I’ve used a 3-needle bind-off at the shoulder/body join, to make the seam stronger so it holds its shape, but you don’t have to. See my YouTube channel for how to do this. You can also use a traditional seaming method if you prefer. This pattern also includes a slick option for people who prefer an integrated pocket. I used a simple crochet stitch at the top of the pockets – again optional. Too complicated? Don’t do it! I’ve also provided a link for button lovers.

Note: When choosing sizes please be aware that my model, is 5ft 7in tall and curvy. The cardigan is worn with a lot of positive ease in the torso compared to underarm chest measurement. In this case, 20 in/51 cm. This means the ‘body’ overhangs the shoulder. Although my daughter likes a long sleeve, the length of the sleeves is relatively short due to the shoulder overhang. Please choose the design and size based on your own body shape, chest measurement and the fit you prefer. If you choose less positive ease in the torso, the body will overhang the shoulder less. I will explain how to adjust the fit on my YouTube channel and here. link text

MATERIALS
Sample shown used King Cole Timeless Super Chunky, Super Bulky/ Super Chunky, 90% acrylic, 10% alpaca 93 yd 85 m per 100 g. 7 8, 9, 10, 10, 12, 12, 13, 14 balls/ 610 695, 780, 870, 915, 1040, 1065, 1135,1225 yd/ 560 635, 715, 795, 835, 950, 975, 1040, 1120 m. Sample uses Sandstone 4445. Other super chunky yarns with a similar gauge can be used.
An alternative strategy is to double strand an aran yarn which has approximately twice as many yd/ m per 100g of yarn as the example yarn used here. For example, I swatched Drops Nepal double stranded and the gauge was similar. If you decide to double strand an aran weight yarn, you will need two times the recommended yd/ m for your size.
