Weebee Worry Doll
The Story of The Worry Doll
Legend tells that there was once a Mayan princess named Lxmucane who received a special gift from the sun god that allowed her to solve any problem that a human could worry about. A child’s Worry Doll represents the princess, when she or he tells their worries to their doll and places it under their pillow at night, by morning the dolls will have gifted them with the wisdom and knowledge to eliminate the things that they are anxious and concerned about.
For the Children of Guatemala
As these dolls are traditionally from Guatemala, 10% of the yearly sales for this pattern will be donated to Save the Children, who thanks to the generosity of supporters, changed the lives of over 201,000 children in Guatemala last year, giving them the chance to grow up healthy, educated and safe, every day and in times of crisis.
About this Pattern
When I make Worry Doll using DK/Light Worsted/3/8ply weight yarn and a 3mm hook, she stands at around 5 and a half inches tall. Other yarn weights and hooks can of course be used to create smaller or larger dolls!
This 6 page pattern is for a Worry Doll with head wrap and pigtails, made from the bottom up to the top of the head with the arms crocheted in as you go.
This pattern has been tested by several wonderful members of the Weebee Appreciation Society Facebook Group and every effort has been made to ensure that this pattern is error free and ready for sale!
My Weebee dolls are named after my youngest niece Phoebe - when she was first born my daughter and Phoebe’s older sister couldn’t say her name properly yet and she has been nicknamed ‘Weebee’ ever since.
