The toy is made from a plastic easter egg, which has a 1/2” hex nut (or something similarly heavy) hot glued inside the base, along with a 19mm bell, taped closed and then crocheted around. Materials:
• Small amounts of #4 medium weight yarn in body color, white, black and yellow beak color
• Size G/4mm and E/3.5mm Crochet Hooks, or sizes needed to obtain gauge (everyone crochets with a different yarn tension!)
• Plastic Easter Egg that opens up horizontally (across the middle). 5” circumference, 2.25” height.
• 1/2” Hex Nut (or something similarly heavy, about 0.5 to 0.6 oz) to glue inside the base of the egg to keep it upright
• Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
• Clear shiny tape (to secure the egg closed)
• Bell (any size, but I use 19mm) to place inside the egg (optional, but provides more stimulation for cats or kids)
• Tapestry Needle and Stitch Marker

Stitches and Techniques used:
• ch = chain
• slst = slip stitch
• st(s) = stitch(s)
• rnd(s) = round(s)
• sc = single crochet
• sc2tog = single crochet two stitches together (sc decrease)
