Quick to work up, this elegantly rustic vest can be styled up or down. Designed to be cushy yet drapey, the side seams are used to create both the flaps and the arm holes.
Crochet hook size: I/9 5.50 mm
Gauge in Crochet Woven Stitch: 2 stitches per inch, 8 per 4 inches
Notions: Two purchased buttons
Yarn: Queensland Collection Kathmandu Aran 100
85% Extrafine Merino Wool, 10% Silk, 5% Cashmere with approx 208 yards per 100g
Royal Blue # 15 - 3 skeins
Aquamarine #07 - 1 skein
Mustard yellow #09 - 1 skein
Fuschia #12 - 1 skein
Finished sizes, front (when buttoned) and back: 20” x 28”
Stitches used:
Foundation Single Crochet (FSC), which also counts as Row 1
Make a slip knot, insert the hook, CH 2
Insert hook into second chain from hook (this is the first chain made)
YO, pull through CH (there are two loops on the hook)
YO, pull through first loop
YO, pull through both loops
Repeat from * as noted in pattern
Crochet Woven Stitch (CWS):
Row 1: SC in second chain from hook, Skip 1 SC, Ch 1, SC - repeat to the end
Ch 2, turn
Row 2: SC in first CH SP, ch 1
Row 3 and all other rows: repeat Row 2
On final stitch of row, SC in last CH 1 space
Pattern note: When changing colors, start the SC by pulling the first loop through, then complete the SC with the new color.
