The Weekends at the Cabin Hat is one of five patterns in the “My Forever Home” Collection, a collection of DK weight patterns inspired my home state: Montana.

ABOUT THE PATTERN
Fun, simplistic, gender-neutral, and easy to wear. Weekends at the Cabin is a warm, cozy hat perfect for a weekend away in the mountains! It features crossed slipped stitches that represent the mountains and pine trees you see outside of the cabin windows.

The Weekends at the Cabin Hat is a 2-in-1 hat pattern including the option to work a mountain motif or a tree motif. It is worked in DK weight, creating a quick and cozy knit.

The pattern includes separate PDF files for the mountain motif and the pine tree motif. Each PDF includes both the written and the charted instructions.

140 (160, 180, 200) yds / 129 (147, 165, 183) m; 52 (60, 67, 74) grams DK weight yarn

Designed using Western Sky Knits Merino 17 DK in Mother Lode.

Note: This pattern was designed using a 100% wool yarn. Test knitters discovered that a heavy DK or Aran weight worked best when using a non-animal fiber.

GAUGE
20 stitches, 26 rounds = 4” / 10 cm for mountains section

3.5 mm (US size 4) – or size needed to obtain gauge – circular needles, minimum 16” (40 cm) long

TECHNIQUES
Weekends at the Cabin Hat is a great hat knitting pattern for knitters of every level who are comfortable with knitting, purling, and working in the round. New-to-you techniques within this pattern may include slipped cross stitches and decreases.

If you are unfamiliar with slipped cross stitches, they are a simplistic cable - and in my tutorials I even show you how to work them without a cable needle!

All of my patterns include clear, step-by-step instructions and linked video technique tutorials that walk you through the pattern with confidence. I am also available for pattern support if you have questions.
