Weirwood Wrap
I am often inspired by the knits that I see in period pieces. I find myself trying to figure out what methods were used to create these warm and beautiful pieces. Once I am drawn into a particular show or movie, I then find myself searching for inspiration in less obvious places as well.
The Weirwood Wrap is one of these inspirations - it was not inspired by something worn, but rather the tree of the same name.
While not a literal interpretation of a tree, the Weirwood Wrap features cables that to me feel reminiscent of the twisting tree branches.
Because Weirwood is knit using a light bulky yarn it works up pretty quickly. It’s size makes it perfect to wear as a wrap, covering your shoulders to keep out the fall chill or as an over-sized scarf to block out the cold in the winter.
Instructions for Weirwood are both charted and written out.
