This is the second Weave in Knit pattern I have published. It is available in three shapes: triangular/ rectangular/ square.
The first weave in knit pattern I published is the Weave in Knit Scarf, which is a simple free pattern with a detailed video tutorial.

You can go wild with colors combination- preferably from your stash- this is a great opportunity to use all you left overs!

Working Order
At first the knitted work is done with a simple garter stitch pattern. The blanket is knitted from the first corner and increases are made on both sides to form a triangular shape. While working, purl columns will be formed. The purl columns will eventually be dropped and opened in order to set the framework for the weaving.
For the rectangular shape, when the desired width is achieved the second corner is formed, decreasing on one side. When the desired length is achieved the third corner is formed, decreasing on both sides to the fourth corner.
For the square shape decreasing is taking place on both sides at the same time.
After the knitting work is completed and the purl columns dropped, the weaving part is worked. The pattern includes 5 simple weaving patterns to play around with for the weaving section.
Blocking the work is a very important section in the pattern. It allows the woven part to be properly blended into the garment.
Dropping the purl columns, weaving and blocking adds about 50% of the blanket’s size to the blanket after only knitting.
Although the knitting work is simple- the color matching can be a fun challenge. I have started the blanket with DK weight yarn and then started to combine more colors to create a fading effect, I have also combined a few lace weight and some of my hand spun singles and held them together, shifting the colors from time to time in order to increase this effect.
