This pattern is offered up in honor of Michael Wellings (1951-2008) and the contributions he made through his work and life. Michael worked as the Director of Broadcast Engineering for the University of Washington and was a visionary and pioneer in the field of HDTV, particularly with relation to the broadcast of high definition video over the Internet. Michael made it his mission to share and demonstrate his knowledge as broadly as possible in ways that everyone could relate to. Many more people than will ever realize will share in the results of his hard work and innovation (Obituary). The original Wellings Wrap was gifted to Michael’s partner, Jan Eveleth, on September 5, 2008.
