Western Shawl version 2
The construction of this shawl makes a crescent shape that sits comfortably around the shoulders without the need of a shawl pin to keep it in place.
It is knitted in garter stitch, in 2 rows stripes, starting with a garter stitch tab. The outer edges are increased every row. The other increases are worked every other row. The shawl starts with one increase point and additional increase points are added as the shawl gets larger. The stitches are cast off by working a lace point edging.
The shawl can be started on straight needles but towards the end it will need to be on a long circular needle due to the number of stitches around the bottom of the main part of the shawl.
The shawl can be knitted in a single colour yarn or in a cake yarn. To make a bigger shawl you can also make it in a DK weight yarn.
Some alternative ideas have been added to the pattern instuctions.
