The Westfold Cap is inspired by the horse riders (Rohirrim) of Middle Earth who live in the region of Rohan. The Rohirrim are often compared to historical Anglo-Saxons. This hat takes inspiration from their decorative helmets.

It is constructed by knitting the brim horizontally, joining the two edges, and then picking up stitches along the top to make the rest of the hat in the round.
