Wetlands: Topography Collection
“The Topography Collection: Exploring Landscapes” - a series of original shawl designs celebrating aspects and features of our natural world.
“Wetlands” takes inspiration from map symbols for marshy areas, and features basic short rows, a unique simple texture stitch, and basic increases. The decorative swamp-grass stitch is fully explained in an included tutorial with clear step-by-step photos and written instructions.
Designed in DK 8ply for 3 colours, this crescent shaped wrap would still be striking with only one main background colour and a contrast for the details - or, a more subtle version worked all in a single colour and relying on texture and structure alone to carry the design.
Charted and written instructions: the first three sections are charted in full, along with full written instructions. Subsequent sections continue in a similar way so are not charted but still have full written instructions row by row.
Uses 4mm needles & 3 x 100g skeins of DK (some yarn will be left over). Finished size 44cm deep and 180cm wingspan.
