Perfect for chilly fall weather, this is an easy piece to customize the colors to fit your mood. It uses four colors, but could easily be pared down to two. Easy on your budget, too, you’ll use a total of 5 to 9 skeins of four colors.
Because the sleeves are longer than the cropped body, begin with the sleeves so that you can make sure the stripe pattern matches across the body. Work the sleeves in the round to the bottom of the armhole, then work the cap back and forth.
The body is worked in one piece from the bottom up, and divided at the armholes to work the fronts and back separately to the shoulders.
The slip stitch pattern is really a 2-row stripe, with a 4-row repeat if worked in just two colors. For the full 4 colors, the repeat is 96 rows long. Wrong side rows are purled, and with the color change on RS rows, the stitches are slipped with the yarn at the back.
