Whale of a Time Baby Blanket is a nautical and whale themed blanket that will be a hit for new mommies! I like to use Hobby Lobby yarn because it washes and dries so easily and is so soft. However, any worsted weight yarn will work.

This pattern works well with shades of the following colors: Grey, green, blue and white. My blog at candylou.com/blog has different shades of these colors made up into the blankets.

The stitches you need to know are explained in the pattern.
the M1R and M1L stitch tutorials are also linked to a youtube video for clarity.

➰ Knit
➰ Purl
➰ M1R (make one right)
➰ M!L (make one left)
➰ SSK
➰ K2tog

There is a chart for the whale but it is also written out. The whales are made with knits and purls. The other stitches are for the chevron sections.

The blanket uses about 75 yards for the borders, 100 yards for each color of the chevron sections and about 100 yards for the whales.

The first time I made this blanket it was for a new baby whose nursery was going to be a whale theme. It was a huge hit at the baby shower!
