Whale Potholders Kitchen Decor
Protect your hands with a set of potholders like these; from now on, holding any hot dishes will be easy and fun!
This pattern describes in US terminology how to crochet a set of whale potholders as shown in pictures, made using sport weight cotton yarn and crochet hook size C (2.5 mm). Schachenmayr/SMC Catania was used to create the potholders in the pictures. Finished size will be approx. 6.7” x 6.7” (17 x 17 cm) including the edges.
These adorable potholders have a whale depicted to their front sides, are made in 2 separate panels, worked in flat rows using tapestry technique, then joined together and finished with a pretty contrasting colored edging all around, including a hanging loop.
The potholders are double layered, making them sturdy and thick enough to hold all hot dishes.
Skill level: intermediate crochet.
Approx. Gauge: 10 sts x 10 rows: 1.57” x 1.57” (4 x 4 cm)
Stitches and techniques used: chain, slip stitch, single crochet, tapestry technique, blocking (optional)
Full color charts and written instructions are both included.
