Whaligoe, (whale geo or inlet of whales) is a small port on the far North East coast of Scotland with 365 man-made steps descending the cliff to what was once a landing place for fishing boats. Local women would go and carry the herring in baskets up from the small natural harbour beneath.

The pullover is A-line shaped and is worked flat from the bottom up. Front and Back feature a cable panel framed with St st. The cable pattern can be worked either from the chart or the written instructions, whichever you prefer.

The Back is 5 cm longer than the Front and is curved at the bottom edge to make the side seams equal in length. The curve is worked with short rows. The set in sleeves are knitted flat in St st. The square neckline is finished with 1x1 rib and mitered corners.

Tweed yarns seem to be most suitable for this Scottish inspired pullover, but other Aran weight yarns will look good, too.
