This warm gilet has an unusual construction based on a single twisted loop, shaped with short rows.

It works equally well with or without the picked-up ribbing on sleeves and waist - although actually very secure the former style draws more attention to the chest in a ‘this scarf wound round me might slip at any moment’ way, whereas the second style makes it obvious that the loops are fixed together throughout and turns the garment into more of a cropped vest.

The finished wrap reminded me of the feel of some of the costumes from early Star Trek, hence the name.
