The beanie pattern is worked top down, using combinations of double crochet, v-stitches, front-post treble crochet to make cables, and v-stitch shells. Increases are made by adding stitches, and decreases are made by skipping stitches. There is ribbing at the bottom that is made by alternating front-post and back-post double crochets. A pompom may be added to the top, and there are suggested tutorials with instructions. Finally, the set is made complete with matching fingerless mitts that have a similar stitch pattern and ribbing at the cuff, top edge, and optional thumb ribbing. Colorwork is create by using worsted weight cake yarn. However, different cake yarns yield different gauges, so needle sizes may need to be adjusted. Also, suggestions are given for controlling color changes. One cake yarn is enough to make the set.
