Wheat Ears Stole and Shawl Pin
This pattern is pretty flexible. The sample is worked in lace weight yarn and is light and floaty. For a heavier stole you could use a 4ply yarn quite easily. The length is easily adjusted by repeating the central section as required.
This pattern would suit someone with a little lace knitting experience. It has written or charted instructions.
The shawl pin is a variation on a Dorset button, and comes from my book Dorset buttons with a Twist. The instructions are photographic and written and very detailed.
Although I have given a tension below it’s not vital to the project. Using a different yarn for example will give a different tension. If in doubt I’d knit a tension square as stated below just to see if you like the look of the fabric.
Tension: 10cm x 10cm square = 3 pattern repeats across (30 sts) and 2 pattern repeats up (32 rows) of wheat ears main pattern, size 4mm needles, yarn needle for weaving in ends, Beaker Button Lace 100g, 1200m approx. For the shawl pin you will need 1 brass ring 3.5cm , approximately 3.5m of yellow cotton perle or 4ply sock yarn, blunt ended needle, bamboo marking pin or plain shawl pin, superglue.
