The poncho can be worn buttoned at the shoulder, or with buttons to the front as a cape or with buttons to create a sleeved shug.

I used Aran weight yarn, it’s important to get gauge of approx 18 x 24 using larger needles, I used 5.5mm.

Needles and Notions:
5.5mm/US9 needles, tapestry needle, 12 (14, 16 ,16, 18, 20, 22) 1 in/2.5 cm buttons.
Tension/Gauge
Body of poncho in cable pattern unstretched.
18sts x 28 rows = 3 in x 5.25 in/7.5 cm x 13.5 cm with 5.5mm/US9
17sts x 24 rows = 4 x 4 in/10 x 10cm in stocking stitch with 5.5mm needles after blocking.
Chart A or B should measure approximately 4.5 in/11.5cm wide after blocking.
