Big sky country; baking bread: the humble sheaf of wheat symbolizes comfort and home. This stranded wheat motif is suitable for any gender.

This scarf is knit as an open tube with ribbing on each end.

I chose Backwards Loop Cast On for this project because it stays tidy when combined with ribbing while having the right stretchiness. Interlock Bind Off is a close visual match to Backwards Loop. If you prefer, try a Tubular Cast On and Tubular Bind Off.

Materials:

Knit Picks City Tweed DK, 55% Merino Wool/ 25% alpaca, 20% Donegal Tweed, 123y/112mper 1.75 oz /50g ball. 1 ball each of Habanero (C1) and Snowshoe (C3) and 7 balls of Porpoise (C2.)

Tools:

US 4 (3.5mm) 16”/40cm circular or double pointed needles or needle size slightly smaller than gauge needle; US 6 (4mm) 16”/40cm circular and double pointed needles or needle size necessary to obtain gauge; stitch marker; tapestry needle, scrap yarn (optional).

Gauge:

25 sts/25 rnds over 4”/10cm in stranded stockinette in the round on larger needle, blocked.

Finished Measurements:

7.”/19cm wide/ 62”/157.5cm long

Length:

Easily adjust the length of the total scarf in the solid middle section. As written, the full length of the scarf is 62”/157.5cm long. Scarves can be anywhere from 55”/140cm to 80”/203cm, depending on the height and preference of the wearer. Keep in mind changing the length will affect the amount of yarn required.
