When Women Gather
When women gather
By the light of the moon
The night awakens
Earth begins to croon
Songs of courage
Ancient wisdom
Silenced voices scream
Through their pain comes power
Things aren’t what they seem
Delight in a touch of the mystical as you knit up this fingering weight cowl. Featuring a central motif of dancing women and dandelions, this pattern is suitable for those comfortable using a larger colorwork chart. Instructions for two sizes included; a snug, neck hugging version & a drapey larger cowl. Instructions for making the faded version (shown on the green & grey cowl) are included in the pattern.
The symbol shown between the moons on this cowl is a triquetra, or trinity knot. It is an ancient symbol composed of three overlapping ovals inside a circle, and has many different meanings, depending on the context in which it is found & the beliefs of the observer. I like the interpretation of it as a protective symbol, and one that represents the triple goddess (maiden, mother, crone).
