The Whimsy Set is a three-piece set of matching hand warmers, cowl, and hat knit in a one-color brioche design. This pattern includes written and charted instructions for all three accessories. The Whimsy Set was designed with hand-dyed yarn in mind. The brioche motif beautifully showcases speckled, tonal, and variegated yarns alike.

Speckled Finch Studios created a custom colorway - “Whimsy” - in the lovely Bouncy DK base exclusively for this set of designs and the newly opened The Whimsical Wool Yarn Shop in San Luis Obispo, celebrating their grand opening on March 22nd.

SIZES:
Hand Warmers: One Size = 7.5” / 19 cm circumference around hand.
Hat: Sizes 1 (2, 3) = 16 (18.75, 21.25)” / 40.5 (47.5, 54) cm circumference around head.
Cowl: One Size = 22” / 56 cm circumference around neck.

YARN:
3 skeins total of Speckled Finch Bouncy DK (231 yards / 211 meters, 100g / 3.5 oz, 100% Superwash Merino Wool) or any DK weight yarn that obtains gauge.
Colorway: Whimsy

Hand Warmers: 136 yards / 124 meters total.
Hat: 142 (165, 188) yards / 130 (151, 172) meters, not including optional pom pom.
Cowl: 225 yards / 205 meters total.

GAUGES:
22 sts x 28 rows = 4” in brioche pattern worked flat on larger needles after blocking.
24 sts x 26 rounds = 4” in brioche pattern worked in the round on larger needles after blocking.
28 sts x 48 rows = 4” in 1x1 slipped rib worked flat on smaller needles after blocking.
28 sts x 48 rounds = 4” in 1x1 slipped rib worked in the round on smaller needles after blocking.

NEEDLES:
US Size 4 (3.5 mm) 16”/40 cm circular needles for brioche pattern in hat and cowl.
US Size 3 (3.25 mm) 16”/40 cm circular needles for ribbing pattern in hat.
Use any size needle necessary to obtain correct gauge.

OTHER MATERIALS:
Darning needle, stitch markers (4), scissors, blocking mats and pins.
