WHINCHAT
His ’n’ hers sweaters play with knit and purl stitches, to contrast chevrons against moss stitch and rib detailing. Choose from one of two collar styles: a ribbed crew or a moss-stitch funnel neck.

Note: Both versions have the same finished chest circumference but the ‘work to’ lengths for the men’s version differ to give six sizes compared with seven for the women’s sweater.
Finished bust/chest circumference: 81 (91, 101, 112, 122.5, 132, 141)cm / 32 (36, 39½, 44, 48¼, 52, 55½)” – to be worn with 5-10cm / 2-4” positive ease
Emma has 91.5cm / 36” bust, stands 180cm / 5’11” tall and is wearing womens’ size 3
Edmund has 96cm / 38” chest, stands 182cm / 6’0” tall and is wearing men’s size 3
YARN
Daughter of a Shepherd Hebridean & Zwartbles DK (DK / light worsted weight; 75% Hebridean wool, 25% Zwartbles wool; 233m / 255yds per 100g skein)
Women’s ribbed-neck sversion; 5 (5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8) skeins
Women’s moss-stitch-neck version; 5 (5, 6, 6, 7, 8, 8) skeins
Men’s ribbed-neck version; – (6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 9) skeins
Men’s moss-stitch-neck version; – (6, 6, 7, 8, 8, 9) skeins
TOOLS
• 3.25mm (UK 10 / US 3) knitting needles
• 3.75mm (UK 9 / US 5) knitting needles
• Stitch holders or smooth scrap yarn
• Tapestry needle
TENSION
22 sts and 34 rows to 10cm / 4” over chevron pattern (Body Chart) on 3.75mm needles after blocking.
Take time to check your tension and adjust the needle size accordingly to ensure an accurate finish.
PATTERN NOTES
• Whinchat is worked flat in pieces from the bottom upward, before seaming together and knitting on the neck.
• There are two versions for each of the women’s and mens sizes; one with a ribbed crew-neck and one with a moss-stitch funnel neck. Seven sizes are provided for the women’s sweater and six for the men’s, which have longer ‘work to’ lengths.
• Where only one number is given this applies to all sizes.
