Designed by Janet Charbonnier as Acorn Street Shop’s featured crochet pattern for the 2024 Puget Sound LYS Tour.

Appropriately named Whippet because you can whip one out in no time at all! This little scarf is worked in rows from tip to tip in single crochet. After the scarf is completed an I-Cord is attached giving the edges a clean, polished finish. The idea for Whippet came from the Sophie Scarf by PetiteKnit, a simple knit pattern that has become a huge favorite amongst knitters. We wanted crocheters to also have a fun, easy pattern that is perfect for one skein of cherished fingering weight yarn… and so Whippet was born. We’d like to give a huge shout out and thank you to Mette of PetiteKnit for her Sophie Scarf pattern and for providing the inspiration for our Whippet.

Serial Knitters DyeHouse Cherry Creek Sock (80% SW Merino / 20% Nylon, 100 gm / 450 yds / 411 m): 1 skein
OR
approximately 300 yds / 275 m of comparable fingering weight yarn

Size D (3.25 mm) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

Two slender handled size D (3.25 mm) crochet hooks or one slender handled size D (3.25 mm) crochet hook and one US #3 (3.25mm) DPN used for I-Cord Edging (these should match the size hook used to get gauge)
