Whirl into Summer
Edited to add …… the pdf says 1 Whirl 2,000 metres - this should of course say 1 Whirl 1,000 metres. An updated Introduction file has been added (05/02/2021)
This pattern has been re-written and is being run as a Cal on my Facebook Group.
Release Dates are:
10th February Part 1
17th February Part 2
24th February Part 3 + fully compiled pattern
This pattern was inspired by one of my testers, Tracey. As I live in the Northern hemisphere my design thoughts were turning to warm shawls, scarves, hats & gloves. However, one of my testers lives in Australia and was looking for a summer top – she was bemoaning the fact that every pattern she found “wouldn’t even fit a sausage dog!“ This really tickled me and being a plus size myself I thought I’d see if I could do something about it – and that is how we come to have a “Whirl into Summer”
The pattern gives instructions for a top or a cardigan. It is worked in one piece from the top down and is adaptable from a size 91cm bust to …well whatever really, you can make it “your” size. I did get the first sample out of just 1 Whirl but my plus sized version (bust 138cm, length 69cm) needed a little extra to do the shell border, so you may need a Whirlette or part of another Whirl to complete. For all regular sizes 1 Whirl should be enough. Any other 4ply yarn could be substituted.
The top is designed to be worn over a camisole or something similar and as such is designed to be a loose fit.
My testers used: 1.5 skeins of Ice Yarn Cakes Cotton Fine & a 2.5mm hook
(104cm bust)
260g of Lalables 3ply acrylic & a 4mm hook (132cm bust, 85cm length)
1 Whirl & a 2.5mm hook (107cm bust, 61cm length)
