The super stylish and warm Whirl Wing can be worn in a variety of ways. Wrap it up tight to make a winter cowl or drape it around your shoulders to dress up a holiday evening dress.

Quick and simple beginner friendly Puff Stitch project that can be whipped up in an hour or so… but with a look and intricacy that says it took so much longer…

Robin Super Chunky 100% Acrylic, 87yds 80m / 100g - Shade Claret
You will need 2 x 100g balls of this yarn, or similar, to make a Whirl Wing 46” /117cm long and, measured along a diagonal line, 11”/ 28cm wide.
Gauge using 10 mm crochet hook - 3 sts and 3 rows = 4” / 10cm

Lion Brand Heartland Thick and Quick 100% Acrylic, 142g 125yd / 114m Shade Acadia
You will need 2 x 142g balls to make a Whirl Wing approx 56”/142cm long and, measured along a diagonal line, 9”/ 23cm wide.
Gauge using 8mm crochet hook - 4 Sts and 3.5 rows to 4” / 10cm.
Note: The ball band suggests 9mm hook for use with this yarn, however, due to the slippery nature of this yarn, puff stitch was not holding well at 9 mm. Using a smaller hook made for perfect puffs.

Picture 6 was made with 2 ends aran weight held together as detailed below.
It is possible to hold 2 ends of aran weight yarn together to create a bulky / chunky yarn, and using a 9mm hook, achieve similar effects to the yarns mentioned above. You will need approx 200g of aran weight yarn.

For yarn substitution, always check gauge and please look at yardage compared to weight, more yards per 100g = finer yarn. Less yards per 100g = thicker yarn.
