The Whirlpool Hat was inspired by trips to Seaside and Cannon Beach in OR. I adore being near the water, and it always inspires me to be creative.

The beautiful colorways of Malabrigo Mecha capture all the colors of the water at sunset, and the gently swirling rib pattern reminds me of ocean tidepools and breaking waves.

This hat is a simple pattern that works up quickly on US 11 circular needles and doublepoints and the chunky Mecha yarn. It uses less than one skein of yarn, there’s enough leftover to make a couple coffee cup sleeves.
