Whisky dog sweater
My dog-loving mother once told me that it would be a good idea to create a pattern for man’s best friend! When I finally got to work, I thought this pattern should be named after her dog: Whisky, a beautiful 1 ½ year old German Shepherd! So here is the pattern that you can knit for your four legged friends.
MATERIALS
• Louise Robert Yarn – Merino Worsted 100% merino sw, 200 m / 100 g 1 (1, 1, 1, 2) ▪ (2, 3, 3, 4) skein(s) or 60 (89, 141, 200, 254) ▪ (332, 410, 541, 700) meters of worsted weight yarn (shown in color Ecume)
• Circular needles of 5 mm (or size needed to obtain gauge) and 4.5 mm (or one size smaller than the size needed to obtain gauge)
• Tapestry needle
• Stitch markers.
GAUGE - 18 sts & 24 rows = 4” (10cm) in stiockinette stitch with 5mm.
SIZES - 2XS (XS, S, M, L) ▪ (XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL) Please refer to the size chart at the end of the pattern for all the details.
Since the length of the body is easily adjustable, I advise you to choose the size that best fits the circumference of the chest.
The diagram shown here is used as a reference throughout the project and the arrow indicates the direction of the knitting.
This model is knitted from the neckline which is worked in the round (A). We continue by increasing the number of stitches on the chest (B).
The following section is knitted in rounds with a few short rows to form an angle towards the body (C).
Then new stitches are casted-on at the end of a row to create the belly panel (D). When the belly is completely covered, these stitches are binded-off and the lower back is finished (E).
