I knit this hat for the Hats for Sailors Group here on Ravelry so Whisper is offered in an adult size. But the size can easily be adjusted by simply adding or substracting cast-on stitches in multiples of 8.

The textured beanie-style hat is knit using an easy to follow sequence of knit, purl and slip stitches. Slip stitches are the “free passes” of knitting … you don’t have to work them, just move them over. And once you get beyond the ribbed band, the rounds of purl stitches is minimal.

The design is suitable for either solid or multi-color yarns and requires just one skein of worsted weight yarn. But if you have leftover balls of yarns, you can use them to make an even more unique hat. Scrappy projects are so much fun and allow you to get that yarn stash down.

The style is works for either gender, and is quick and easy enough to make for a gift or donation … and maybe one to keep for yourself.
