In my opinion, hats are an ideal canvas for trying out new knitting techniques. They are low risk, because if you need to rip back and redo, the rows are not that long. Plus, hats are fast to knit and fun to wear!

The Whisper Hat offers practice keeping your floats nice and loose in 2x2 corrugated ribbing, which is a bit more challenging than 1x1 corrugated rib. And it offers a couple of tricks to make that corrugated rib look polished, including the barest hint of a garter stitch border and an easy trick to hide those annoying purl blips when changing colors in ribbing. Once you’re done with the ribbing, it’s time to learn my favorite technique for jogless stripes in the round. It is perfect for the Fibonacci sequence stripes that are featured on the body of the hat.

Because this project is designed to be a learning tool, the directions are written out line-by-line, perfect for marking off each round as it is completed. And with 3 sizes, the Whisper Hat is versatile enough to fit most adults.

Size 6 US/ 4.25 mm 16” (41 cm) circular needles or size needed to achieve gauge and your choice of size 6 US/ 4.25 mm DPNs or longer circular needle for small circumference knitting

Measurements:
Gauge: 21 sts in stockinette equals 4”/ 10 cm after light blocking. 22.5 sts in corrugated rib equals 4”/10 cm after light blocking.
