This pattern is written for two different sizes of foot width, with the length of the body, heel, and legs of the sock being adjustable and customizable for the perfect fit! Additional sizing options are available in the Customization Notes section of the pattern.

These floral lace socks are a perfect addition to your wardrobe! The dual, split stitch pattern between the lace and post stitch ribbing provides not only visual contrast, but structure along the base of the sock as well. Wear with your favourite loafers, clogs, or even platform Mary Janes!

Whistling in the Dark is worked up using any fingering or sock weight yarn of your choice- a blend of wool and nylon/polyamide is preferable for maximum strength and warmth, but feel free to use whatever fibre you like best. Sock yarns with elastic in their composition are also a great pick for this project, as it will provide additional stretch to the design.

Whistling in the Dark is worked from the toe upwards. The toe box is created first in unturned rounds, with length being added to fit the wearer’s foot. The gusset is then worked, increasing at the sides to accommodate for the heel. After creating the gusset, the heel is worked in turned short rows to create the proper shape. The heel is optionally extended for more coverage, followed by the desired length for the sock leg. Finally, a cuff is worked, with elastic being added at the top to ensure a snug fit.
