Платок отличается от оренбургской паутинки: в композиции нет решетки, ажурная кайма вяжется сразу вместе с зубцами и соединяется в углах платка одновременно с вязанием всего платка. Таким образом, платок вяжется одним полотном и не имеет швов. Вязать нужно тоже платочным вязанием - все петли лицевые.

Особенностью пензенских платков является использование элементов в виде ажурных дорожек в кайме. Середина либо заполнена сплошным узором (иногда это тоже дорожки), либо имеет простую (без рисунка) середину (для теплых платков). Ажурные дорожки также используются, чтобы визуально отделить ажуры середины от каймы и части каймы друг от друга.

Зубцы платка больше оренбургских, размер схем для платков A20 на 20 зубцов - это в пересчете на оренбургские зубцы примерно 28 зубцов.

Рекомендованная пряжа мохер от 1000-1200м/100г, расход примерно 1600м на схему А20, 2300м - А25.

This pattern includes instruction for knitting Penza Lace Shawl – such shawls are called Gossamer shawls.
The pattern uses traditional motifs, composition and knitting principles, which are typical for Penza shawls knitted from goat down or sheep wool.
This shawl is different from Orenburg shawls: there is no lattice in it, the lace border is knitted along with the “teeth” and joined at the corner. The body of the shawl is knitted at the same time with the edging. Thus, the shawl is seamless and knitted in one piece. It’s knitted with a garter stitch.
A special feature of Penza shawls are openwork paths in the border of a shawl. The center of a shawl is filled either with a repeated pattern (sometimes paths) or is just plain (in warm shawls). Openwork paths are used to visually separate the center lace part from the border or to separate sections of the border from each other.

The pattern contains charts for shawl options in the following sizes:

1. Square shawl, Chart А_20 – width-wise 252 sts, edging included.

2. Square shawl, Chart А_25 – width-wise 312 sts, edging included. Yarn Penza shawls were traditionally knitted both from lace woolen yarn and from goat down yarn. The thinner the yarn, the airier and more delicate is the shawl. Please, choose yarn according my recommendations. Yarn: lace / fine lace / cobweb yarn of your choice in 1,000 m / 1094 yds per 100 g / 3.5 oz. You can use other yarns with comparable yardage, for instance alpaca, if it responds well to blocking, or thin wool yarn. For a more delicate lace shawl, Orenburg (or other) goat down may be used, or a lightweight mohair such as Lineapiu Camelot, which has a yardage of 1,500 m per 100 g. Working with 1,000–1,200 m per 100 g yarn will yield the most delicate lace fabric. The thinner your yarn – the more yardage it has per 100 g – the smaller individual stitches will turn out, and you need to choose a chart with more stitches per row and more rows overall to get the same finished size shawl. The thicker the yarn (and the larger the needle size) used, the bigger the finished shawl will turn out. To avoid ending up with a shawl of unmanageable dimensions, work from the chart for the smaller size in this case. Approximate total yardage needed, for mohair 1 000 m / 100 g , goat down yarn with a yardage of 1,200 m/ 1300 yds per 100 g or for woolen yarn 1400-1600 m per 100 g / 1500-1750 yds per 3.5 oz (needles size US 0–2.00 mm):

3. Chart A_20 – about 1,600m / 1,750 yds. (for mohair 1 000 m / 100 g)

4. Chart A_25 – about 2,300m / 2,500 yds. (for mohair 1 000 m / 100 g)
