Named after a town that brings back so many good memories to me, the White River JCT scarf wraps around your neck once, and then joins at the front with ties consisting of i-cords. The extremities of the scarf bear a lace motif that resembles a tulip. This scarf (excluding i-cords) measures 55’’ (140 cm) long (Each i-cord measures 24’’ (60 cm)) and 7’’ (18 cm) wide.

Yarn
Approximately 200 yards of super bulky weight yarn (Sample shown in Lana Grande, by Cascade Yarns, in color Ecru)

Materials
Tapestry needle, a few yards of scrap yarn.

Gauge
11 stitches and 13 rows = 4 inches of stockinette stitch (after blocking)

Needles
One set of US 11 (8 mm) straight needles or one circular needle, two US 11 (8 mm) double-pointed needles (or size required to obtain gauge, although gauge is not all that important in this project).

Special techniques:
I-cord.
Slipped-stitch edging.
Grafting live stitches together (i.e., Kitchener stitch).
Make one right-slanting stitch.
Make one left-slanting stitch.
Knit front and back of stitch (without that silly purl bump!).
German short-row shaping (so much easier and prettier!).
Double yarn overs.
