White Swan Beret
This pattern has been updated with new photos and layout for 2013.
This traditional Fair Isle beret looks lovely knitted in a fine, springy or textured wool. You will need small amounts of three colours in addition to the main colour for the colour work band – mine are worked with Briggs & Little Durasport that I have hand dyed with logwood and brazil wood, in addition to white. Alternatively, this Canadian yarn is available in several pre-dyed colours; Rowan fine tweed also works well (It knits up with slightly more drape than the Briggs & Little, using the needle size recommended).
This beret is worked flat and then seamed.
Gauge is 25-26 st/4 in or 10cm - the crown shape is made by blocking once the piece is finished.
