In the past year, I’ve knitted over 75 BeeHive creations (See my BeeHive Hat Family pattern). All those stitches and all that time, I continued to think of other designs using this wonderful, stretchy, versatile stitch pattern. After imagining a cowl in my mind for over 6 months, I finally got around to knitting it this year!

I knew I wanted to knit using Cat Bordhi’s Moebius technique, and would like to thank her for the wonderful youtube video she offers for the cast on. Simple, ingenious, beautiful, fascinating… everything I like in a knitting project! Thanks, Cat Bordhi!

The Wholly Cowl is a true moebius. It is a unique and stretchy, multi-colored cowl that can be worn as a collar or hood, up or down, with either yarn shade shown as the main color. You can make it longer or shorter, as you wish, to wrap around once or twice, wear close to the neck or loose and drapey. The possibilities are endless!

The idea of this moebius, using this stitch, has been tried by others. Even though I thought of it on my own, others have, too, so I offer this pattern for free. If you like the look of my cowl, please check out my family of BeeHive Hats. The Wholly Cowl makes a lovely set when combined with one of my hats. And check back in periodically… I have another project in mind! I just need to create it!

Thanks, and happy knitting!
