If you were a child of the ’70s and ’80s like I was, you may remember the wicker craze. Growing up we had wicker furniture, but I remember one rocking chair in particular that had wicker caning. The openwork pattern of this shawl imitates that iconic wicker caning that I so closely associate with warm childhood memories.

Wicker is an asymmetrical and completely reversible garter stitch shawl that includes panels of simple openwork. These panels are separated by a gradually increasing number of garter stitch rows and appear at a diagonal on the shawl. The original size of the pattern also makes this a perfect scarf option.

Final measurements (blocked): 71 inches wide at the top edge by 40 inches on the side edges; 20 inches deep at center. The pattern can be continued as desired to an increased length. The original size of the pattern also makes this a perfect scarf option.
