Wickerwork
SO much squish! The fabric this stitch creates is luxurious and double-thick making a warm and comfortable cowl with lots of snuggle. Wickerwork is best with a semi-solid or lightly speckled yarn; gradients would also work well. This is a cable stitch, but a tutorial has been included to show you how to work it without using a separate cable needle if you wish - a great time-saver.
Uses approx 240-360yd of DK 8ply merino or wool. You will need a 3.5mm and a 5mm needle on 60cm cables, and a cable needle (optional).
One size fits all.
This cowl makes a matched set with WICKER beanie and just 2 x100g skeins of DK will be enough to make both pieces. If making the set, knit the beanie first as its yardage is fixed; the cowl will use up all the remaining yarn.
errata - step numbering for the final section (top edge) was incorrect; the new pdf dated 2018-11-14 has replaced the original and the error is now fixed.
