Widdershins - Telling It Slant is a dynamic, turning motif. It looked better with a diagonal arrangement, hence my borrowing “telling it slant” from poet, Emily Dickinson.

There are two motif designs, and suggestions for variations to borders (1x1 rib, or 2x2 rib, and same or contrast colour). The headband fits snugly over the ears, and comfortably fits a head larger than 46cm / 18” - which is the actual measurement of the headbands. The pattern repeat is over 24 stitches and 25 rounds. If you need to make a smaller or larger size, experiment with using 2.25cm / 2.75mm or 3.25mm / 3.75mm needles, and take care with your blocking - there is plenty of give in the yarn.

The headband is knitted in the round, using one ball of each colour. There was just enough to knit both sample headbands from one ball of eclipse and one of emerald.

One of these days, I’d like Widdershins - Telling It Slant to be the border on a little vest top or gansey. There’s more work to do (and more wool to buy!) before that happens. For now, I hope you like it, amd enjoy knitting it.
